Who is this God?
Attempting to describe God is like trying to paint a portrait of someone you’ve never seen. Each person, however, has an inward portrait of God that is painted, not with brush and paint, but with thoughts and words, on the canvas of their mind. These inward portraits of God help us develop an understanding of Who God is and how we can relate to Him. Each word or thought is like a dab of paint adding color to our portrait of God.  

History reveals, unfortunately, that some people have developed terribly distorted portraits of God. Paul wrote about these people, describing them as people who "think up silly ideas of what God was like and what he wanted them to do and their foolish minds became dark and confused" (Romans 1:21).
