In The Last Martyr a strange looking, shabbily dressed man gives a small ancient scroll, an ancient parchment, to Dr. John , a pastor, at the conclusion of a church worship service. The pastor of the church in Chalmette, Louisiana, is told that he must translate then transcribe the document, written in Koine Greek and Aramaic, then save the translation in multiple computers, in different formats, in different locations, for safety and security - then burn the document!
After translating, then transcribing, then burning the ancient scroll, titled A Psalm of the Apocalypse, the flames and smoke from the burning triggered the start of a series of events - catastrophic, eschatological end-time events! It also triggers a search for a seventh, final copy of the scroll. As Dr. John runs the race that is before him he has an additional responsibility - he must interpret A Psalm of the Apocalypse.
A Psalm of the Apocalypse is actually a sonnet, a psalm or psalter of the Apocalypse, comprised of a series of unbalanced verses and poetic stanzas. In substance, A Psalm of the Apocalypse is a faint foreshadowing of the end of what is and the beginnning of what is yet to be.
Below are three stanzas from A Psalm of the Apocalypse.
Seven, the Number of Perfection
And of Weeks
Daniel saw Seventy, of Years
One Disappears, Cut Off - Eternal Tears
Yet, Once More, In the Holy Land
The Unholy Zarathustra
He Will Stand
Seven, Perfection. Six thrice, a Man.
Keriah.
One remains
Only One, One Week of Years
The Lamb, The Lion - Final Tears
Jacob's Time of Trouble.
It now appears.
A labyringh leads the way,
But not in the light of day.
The time is fulfilled.
Final Trump.
Shiv'a.
